Dr. Thuan Tran
Dr. Thuan Tran graduated medical school in 1961 in Vietnam, and he has been a practicing physician for over 30 years. Dr. Tran served in the Vietnamese Army (Rangers) for several years during the Vietnam War and was Chief Physician of Rangers. He was Head of Health Department in the Quang Nam and Kien Phong provinces. Additionally, Dr. Tran was the Director of Kien Phong Hospital. Furthermore, he was Chairman of the Red Cross Committee in the Kien Phong province. Dr. Tran and his family immigrated to the United States 1975. He was employed by the City of Houston Health Department and later joined the YMCA. Dr. Tran was named "Volunteer of the Year" for YMCA International Services in 1986. In 2002, Dr. Tran returned to Vietnam for the first time, on a work camp and exchange project with YMCA International Services. One of his passions is to help the young Vietnamese generation build a brighter future.
