SM 2003 Flu Shots
We were able to get flu shots vaccine and supplies at cost, and fund-raise by giving the much needed vaccine at annual festivals at St. Justin and Lo Duc church. As one might recall, 2003 was one of the worst "flu" years and the virus striked Houston with a vengeance.
Besides benefiting our Sunflower Mission, our flu-shot service was much welcomed by those who have not received the vaccine either because of shortage or due to everyone's hectic schedules.
At St. Justin Church, in October, we gave a total of 124 shots at $15 each. We also had a few t-shirt sales and a collection box at our booth. Our net profit was $1,172.00 for a 4 hours spend at the festival.
At Lo Duc Church, during their thanksgiving festival, we gave a total of 110 flu shots at $20.00 each. Our booth also featured sales of Poinsettias, Christmas cards and T-shirts. Our net profit was $2,400.00.
Everyone had a good time at our booth and at the same time enjoying the festival.
