vietnam educationSunflower Mission completed its first yard sale over the weekend. Hats off to Nam Hoang, Khanh Van Bui, and AiChi Tran for a successful fundraising event. The yard sale required little preparation and planning, but it involved many of Sunflower Misison's friends and members. There were many volunteers involved in collecting donated items, moving the donated items and having them ready for sale, and of course, to actually work the yard sale on Saturday. Some of our volunteers were working until midnight the night before and were back again at 5AM in the morning to move the merchandise out for sale.

There were so many people involved; I cannot name everyone. Thank you, everyone! I'd especially like to thank Nam and AiChi for their dedication and hard work as well as add a warm welcome (plus much gratitude) to our newest members, anh Cuong, chi Khanh, and chi Chi for your hard work on the yard sale.

From your donation and/or the donation of your friends, we had some very nice items for sale, including a refrigerator, nice pieces of furniture (sofa, love seat, dining set, bed,etc..), lamps, washer / dryer, home appliances and decoration, lots of clothing (some were really really nice), books, and so many other items. If you weren't there, you missed out on getting a bargain on some great items. I think almost all of our volunteers that came to work at the yard sale ended up buying something as well! We also made an informal social out of it. After the yard sale, the volunteers enjoyed lunch at Pho 518.

We collected $2030 from the sale of merchandise + donations. We had $154 in expenses; netting $1876. Not bad for a fun activity that engaged the support of many of our friends and members.

THANK YOU, EVERYONE, for your support! ...Until next time!
