The VA NGO Network Regional Meeting & Capacity Building Workshop is free and open to all VA NGO Network Members and Friends. We would like to encourage new organizations working in Vietnam to take the opportunity to come learn about the VA NGO Network and its planned activities in 2010 to serve members and NGOs. Attend the Open Discussion and join the Initiative on Health Education - to be launched as a new collaboration between VA NGOs.
Dr. John Nguyen, Founder and President of the Lighthouse Leadership will also hold a workshop on leadership development for NGOs, "Social Intelligence and the Principles of Leadership."

I. REGIONAL MEETING & CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP

MEETING TOPICS
Session 1 - Social Intelligence and the Principles of Leadership
Dr. John Nguyen, Founder and Principle Partner of Lighthouse Leadership, faculty of Institute for Civic Education in Vietnam (ICEVN) will provide practical training on leadership development for NGOs.
Session 2 - VA NGOs and Initiatives on Health
Almost all members of VA NGO Network have served children for many years and are directly responsible for children’s health & well beings. The session introduces some member organizations’ work on health, safe schools and their independent efforts, with the goals to establish common threads to collaborate joint projects for 2010-11. The session will place different emphasis on pre-K and K-12 children. Panelists include Ms. Tran Kim Anh (Pacific Links Foundation), Dr. Quynh Kieu & Mr. Richard Levine (Project VietNam Foundation), Mr. Tuan Dao (Sunflower Mission), Ms. Cathy Lam (Our1World). Session will be facilitated by Ms. Anhlan Nguyen of the Vietnamese Culture & Science Association.
Session 3 - VA NGO Network's Initiatives on Health Education
Whereas the first session places focus on the child development, the second session is devoted toward establishing projects that promotes health education, and the Network’s role in facilitating the VA NGO Network Initiatives on Health. What can all Network members bind together and promise to do within own capacity & projects? Panelists include Ms. Thien-Nhien Luong (Friends of Hue Foundation), Ms. Binh Rybacki (Children of Peace International), and Dr. Quynh Kieu (Project VietNam Foundation). Session will be facilitated by Mr. Son Michael Pham of Kids Without Borders.

The Vietnamese Culture & Science Association, jointly sponsored by Sunflower Mission, will host a reception in celebration of the Strength of Many, the Heart of One. This is an occasion for organizations in the region to come meet other members of the Network locally and also throughout the United States, or individuals interested in volunteering with one of the many organizations to be present.
The Meeting & Reception are free and opened to all VA NGO Network Members and Friends. We would like to encourage new organizations working in Vietnam to take the opportunities to come learn about the VA NGO Network and its planned activities in 2010 to serve members and NGOs.
