Phuong Anh - 8th Grade

educationDear sir,

Today, through the Sisters of I.C.M., I learned that your mission has a scholarship program that helps needy students. With your permission, I would like to present my circumstances as follows.

My family consisted of six people, two parents and four children. I am the youngest of four siblings. When I was 7 months old, my father left our family. Until this day we do not know where about he is.

Dear sir, from that day we became fatherless. Fatherless children are just as homes without roofs. Since that day our mother has taken in her hurt and sorrow, has laboriously worked to provide for her four children.

To make a living our family works on the rice field. There are only 5 units (cong) of land we are allowed to work. My mother has to find extra labor work to support us. My older sister and brother stopped going to school after their 5th grade to help my mother.

Since my father left, my mother has worked very hard but finds just enough to feed us and barely enough to put us through school. Other need such as clothing is kindly donated by others through the Charity of Sisters of Can Tho.

Dear sir, I am writing this letter asking for your kind heart and your help to allow me fulfilling my dream. Quitting school, just as my older sister and brother had to, will bring me great sadness. My dream is to be able to complete the 12th grade. After that I wish to become a nun, if possible, to learn medicine to help others some day.

I am sincerely thankful for your support. I wish you good health and good fortune in carrying out the works you have been doing.

Regards,
