College Scholarship Programs Retructure

Houston, Texas — Sunflower Mission today announced an important evolution in its college scholarship programs. Driven by a commitment to maximize the impact of every dollar donated and remain responsive to the emerging financial and academic landscape of students in Vietnam, Sunflower Mission will consolidate its Sponsor A Student (SAS) and Le So Memorial Scholarship of Excellence (LSMSE) programs into a single program under the name Le So Memorial Scholarship of Excellence.

This consolidation unifies two programs that have grown increasingly aligned in values and operations, enabling Sunflower Mission to streamline resources, strengthen management, and deliver greater, more focused impact for students and supporters alike. The leadership team for the consolidated program will be drawn from the existing leadership of both teams, ensuring continuity and depth of experience. Eligibility criteria for the unified program will be announced by the Sunflower Mission Board of Directors in late 2026.

To support this transition, no applications will be accepted and no grants will be awarded to new students for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. SM plans to resume accepting applications for the consolidated scholarship in the summer of 2027, in time for the 2027-2028 academic year. While SM pauses awarding scholarships to new students, all current scholarship recipients will continue to receive their scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year without interruption, provided they continue to meet the requirements already in place.
