Eighteen years ago, during my first Workcamp, the school we built had only three classrooms. This school is much larger, with six classrooms, a library, a STEAM room, and even a playground. In fact, I was so fascinated by the school itself that I may have been more excited to explore it than to start working. Yet despite all the changes, one thing felt wonderfully familiar: the smiles on the students. As the students grew more comfortable with our presence, their smiles reminded me that while buildings, resources, and surroundings may evolve, the joy and curiosity of children remain timeless.

On the very first day of Workcamp, our journey was quickly tested by unexpected challenges. Our bus driver, confronted with treacherous terrain, muddy landslides, and waist-deep puddles, considered turning back. By day’s end, he was ready to quit. Yet to our deep gratitude, he returned the next morning and every morning after, with growing confidence and mastery, skillfully navigating the rugged path ahead.

Nearly all of my cousins, including my brother, attended last year's work camp. Because I was unable to request time off, all I could do was read their work camp blogs and watch them update our family group chat. Now, here I am writing my own so they can read mine!! Hey family!!!!
